Snow Update

Quite a nice event for us in Cookeville, TN. Snowing moderately at 6:20 pm and we expect a 2"-4" total accumulation before ending overnight. The heaviest of the snow will enter our area from around 6:30 pm until around 8:30 pm. Some higher elevation locations will, as usual, receive a little more accumulation. The back edge to this storm is out in West Tennessee at this hour and I expect we'll see if wrap up just after midnight. Some lingering flurries are possible.

No word yet on schools for Putnam County (as of 6:20 pm), however Jackson County, Overton County, Macon County, and Clay County schools have decided to close on Friday as well as many others across middle Tennessee. I expect to begin seeing decisions regarding school cancellations in the Upper Cumberland over the next couple of hours. My bet is a bunch of them will end up being closed.

Clouds and Little Rain

**BIG RAINS**
What a start to May! As of 7 o'clock this morning (C.D.T.), I've measured 3.88" of rain in the first 4 days of the month. Reports are still coming in, but I believe we'll see some stations with over 10 inches through the same period.

**Monday Morning Notes**
Here in Cookeville, our Monday weather looks like this. Cloudy with showers (light) this morning gives way to just clouds the rest of the day, with a high temperature of 65°...cloudy overnight, low 53°. PARTLY SUNNY on Tuesday (yes!) with a high of 75° and rains return for Wednesday. Believe or not, the weekend is looking nice for now.

Snow Again This Morning

As we awake this morning, we are greeted with snow on cars, rooftops, fences, and some on the ground.  One thing I notice is black ice on the streets.  This is a particularly dangerous situation.  The reason it is dangerous is you cannot see it when driving.  The roads look perfectly normal yet it has a very slippery patch of frozen precipitation on it.  Driving can be difficult with the presence of black ice.

Good call on closing schools today.  Several counties in our immediate are out including: Clay, Cumberland, Grundy, Jackson, Macon, Overton, Pickett, Putnam (us), Sumner, and Trousdale.  Fentress will run one hour late today.  Private School in our area closed is Heavenly Host.

Be careful out there today, especially this morning.  Getting some reports of accidents and do know that city salt trucks are out this morning working on the slick spots.

I went in this morning to wake-up my 14 year old and acted like any other day.  Told her 'By the way, it has snowed this morning and there is no school!'  She replied 'Are you serious?'  I said 'Yes' and she comes back with 'Thank you Jesus!!!'....*priceless*
