Took some time off and traveled to Gatlinburg, TN from this past Wednesday through last night. Had a wonderful cabin with a view of Mt. LeConte. Drove up to Newfound Gap and spent time in Pigeon Forge shopping! All in all, it was a fun trip.
Drove through snow Wednesday evening to get to our cabin. The roads had been cleared, BUT, they must have received 6+ inches in Gatlinburg. The highway across the mountains (441) was closed due to snow!
On Saturday, we drove up over the top of the mountain and while is was nearly 60° in Gatlinburg, the temperatures were just in the upper 30's at 4800 ft. Snow (that fell on Wednesday) was still on the ground at 4800 feet and above. It appeared they had more than a foot in many locations.
Back here in Cookeville, it was nearly 70° on Sunday. We awake this morning with a WIND ADVISORY for area lakes. Also, the Forecast Discussion is interesting! We also have a Special Weather Statement that has been issued.
Our latest, local forecast has something for everyone from thunderstorms, warm weather, to windy, snowy possibilities!
I'll have pictures and fun websites for the Gatlinburg trip later!
