12:15 Update

Memphis area schools are shutting down due to winter weather according to MemphisWeather.net

Temperatures are near 60° in East Tennessee, in the lower 50's here at My Weather Station Live, in the 40's around Nashville, while the Memphis area is in the middle 30's.   The powerful cold front is just east of the Metro Nashville area.  This cold front has brought frigid temperatures to St. Louis as they are currently in the teens.

Check the Wunderground WunderMap and type in Nashville, TN in the search box.  There you can expand it to see the huge temperature difference.

Rain is falling here in the Cookeville area.  I don't expect temperatures to get cold enough to bring the sort of weather (ice, freezing rain, etc) that west TN will get.

We're hoping for the best and preparing for the worst here in Memphis. Near freezing in northern suburbs and 35 in the city at noon. Cross your fingers for us - the drivers over here are crazy WITHOUT frozen roads! ;-)

OK, so perhaps, I am not THAT geographically misplaced... no way, would I want to be dealing with even a threat of that! Better you than me! Bundle up!
