***10:15 PM UPDATE***
Latest look shows our local Cookeville weather to be a mixed bag on Thursday. Right now, the expectation is for rain, sleet, and snow. No accumulation at this time is the call. The weekend appears to be, pretty much, a wash-out. Good news is we'll warm up...
NEAR RECORD TO SNOW
The winds of weather change are in the air. Winter is coming back after highs reached 75° here in Cookeville yesterday. Believe it or not, a SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT has been issued for wintry precipitation for tomorrow (Thursday).
*Latest, Local Forecast*
WINTER STORM AHEAD?
A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for the northwest portions of Middle Tennessee where they could see up to 3" of snow around Clarksville, Dover, and Land Between The Lakes.
The rain/sleet/freezing rain, and snow mix in Texas
heads here on Thursday.
OLD RECORD BROKEN!
Yesterday, a new record high was set in Nashville. They reached 80° which broke the old record of 79° from way back in 1879. Not too many 130 year-old records get broken.
On this date in 1923, a 72 mph wind gust is recorded in Nashville. In 1888, one of the greatest blizzards of all time strikes New York City. 200 people are killed as the city is cut off from the rest of the world.
SPRINGS SPRINGS SOON!
If you want to think about Spring, consider this. On March 20th at 6:44 a.m. is the official start to Spring.
what you thinking for lawrenceburg i think it will get cold enough for sleet/snow mixed what about you
not sure you'll get much down there Adam...some flurries...and a mix as you say!
What do you mean i thought the precip was coming from the south
Hey Adam...It is, but I believe if one ingredient (say precip) is ready available, the other (in this case, cold air..won't) will not be as available...we have to have both to get a good snow.
