Winter Weather Today

***5:25 PM Update***
Received a report from a friend in Monterey, he tells me 'Ice is freezing on trees in Monterey.' Another friend, who lives just across the TN border in Kentucky, reports snow falling.
Could see some accumulating snow in the northern counties of Tennessee after dark.
Snow is expected from Texas to Virginia
The heaviest will be in NW TN and SE KY

TODAY'S OUTLOOK
We expect a mixture of precipitation today across the Cookeville and Upper Cumberland area. It should start after lunch today for us and isn't expected to make road conditions slippery. We could see some accumulations in the grassy areas. The best chances for accumulations are on the higher elevations of the Cumberland Plateau.

TONIGHT THROUGH THE WEEKEND
The winter precip sticks with us tonight. It will change over to all rain on Friday with cool temperatures. Rain continues all weekend as a series of disturbances move across the Middle Tennessee area. Temperatures moderate to 50° by Saturday and 60° by Sunday and Monday. So, any snow that falls today and tonight will be nothing more than a distant memory by the weekend.

We had sleet at 8:30 this morning, out on Pippin Road. By 10:00 it had turned to rain.
