Statement from Nat'l Weather Service

THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR MIDDLE TENNESSEE.

.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT...

HEAT ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT...

TEMPERATURES AND HEAT INDICES WILL CONTINUE THEIR UPWARD TREND,
WITH AFTERNOON HIGHS TOPPING OUT IN THE UPPER 90'S MOST PLACES
WEST OF THE CUMBERLAND PLATEAU. HEAT INDICES WILL LIKEWISE HIT
TRIPLE DIGITS IN MANY AREAS, WITH WESTERN MIDDLE TENNESSEE UNDER A
HEAT ADVISORY, WHERE THE HEAT INDEX IS EXPECTED TO TOP 105 DEGREES.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...TUESDAY THROUGH SUNDAY...

HEAT ADVISORY IS IN EFFECT...

HOT WEATHER WILL CONTINUE ACROSS THE MID STATE AT LEAST THROUGH
THE WEEKEND, WITH HIGH TEMPERATURES RUNNING IN THE MID AND UPPER
90'S MOST LOCATIONS WEST OF THE CUMBERLAND PLATEAU. A FEW SPOTS
MIGHT EVEN HIT TRIPLE DIGITS AS HIGH PRESSURE PRODUCES A HOT,
STAGNANT AIR MASS.

HEAT INDEX VALUES WILL ROUTINELY EXCEED 100 DEGREES DURING
AFTERNOON HOURS, AND SOME LOCATIONS WILL EVEN SEE HEAT INDICES
RISE ABOVE 105 DEGREES. AS A RESULT, THE HEAT ADVISORY HAS BEEN
EXPANDED FOR TUESDAY TO INCLUDE AREAS ALONG AND WEST OF INTERSTATE
65.
