What Is A Rain Shadow

You all are full of questions and I enjoy hearing from people who read this weather blog.

A couple of weeks ago, I was at Progressive Savings Bank in Cookeville and was asked, by Kelly who works as a CSR, what it was called when it is dry on the other side of a mountain. At the time, my brain wasn't working well.

The power of Google search came up with the answer before I left.

It's called a RAIN SHADOW.

Below is a graphic on a rain shadow.

Brief rain shadow article from USA TODAY.

Thanks to the ladies at Progressive Savings Bank on the question about Rain Shadows!
