Latest on Weekend Rains

Looks like another rain-filled weekend upcoming across much of Middle Tennessee. Here in the Upper Cumberland region you can expect rainfall up to 2" this weekend with some isolated amounts over 3".

When will it start?
Some rain has fallen this evening (Thursday) in isolated sections of the area. Generally we expect the actual rain event to begin overnight Friday into Saturday with the rains becoming heavier through the daylight hours on Saturday.

Are we expecting flooding?
With the grounds already saturated from last weekend's rain event you can expect that any rain that falls will not be absorbed into the damp grounds as easily. This will cause areas prone to flooding to possibly flood quicker than last weekend.

How much will we receive locally?
As stated above we are definitely going to see some significant rainfall totals on the order of 2" with isolated 3" amounts. I cannot rule a few spots seeing 3+...

Rest of the overnight:
Mostly Cloudy - Low 56°

Friday:
Mostly Cloudy - High 70° with a 50/50 chance of rain

Friday night:
Showers Likely - Low 53° with a 70% chance for rain

Saturday:
Showers and possibly a thunderstorm - High 61° - 100% chance for rain

Rain chances continue right on through early next week.
