Nice August!

Here in Cookeville, TN, we had a high of 94 degrees on four different days during August (4, 5, 20, 21)  Our low temperature this month was 55.5 degrees on the 12th and 17th.  Our average daily temperature was almost 2 degrees BELOW normal.

Tropical Storm Fay blessed us with 2.45" of rain over a 3-day period.  We measured 3.10" during August which was 1.18" below normal.  Our summertime (From June 1st to August 31st) rainfall was 11.35"

From our friends at the Nat'l Weather Service in Nashville:

A warm and dry August for Nashville...

August averaged 78.9 degrees at the Airport... which is 1 degree
above normal. The highest temperature for the month was 97 degrees
on the 5th... and the coolest was 60 degrees on the 17th. Total
rainfall for the month was 1.67 inches... which is 1.61 inches below
normal. The first 19 days were without measurable rain... which is
the longest dry stretch in August for at least 60 years.

There were a couple of significant weather events for the month.

On the night of the 6th... many reports of wind damage and a few
reports of hail were received from north central portions of the mid
state... from Robertson County to Putnam County. Over a 2 day
period... the 25th and 26th... the remnants of Tropical Storm Fay
dumped 3 to 5 inches of rain over a large area south and east of
Nashville. This was welcomed as many locations had received little
if any rainfall for August up to this point.

Crossville averaged 73.3 degrees for the month... which is near
normal. The warmest temperature was 92 degrees on the 4th...
while the coldest was 53 on the 12th and 17th. Total rainfall was
4.25 inches... which is 0.18 inch above normal.

Clarksville averaged 76.1 degrees for the month and tabulated 0.94
inch of rainfall.

For the Summer months of June... July and August Nashville averaged
78.8 degrees which is 1.4 degrees above normal. Total rainfall was
8.20 inches... which is 2.93 inches below normal.

Crossville averaged 73.4 degrees for the season... which is .7 degree
above normal. Total rainfall was 10.13 inches... which is 3.8 inches
below normal.
