The kids are headed back to school today after an extended Thanksgiving holiday break that was increased by two days of winter weather.
Even though we are chilly this morning with temperatures in the 30's across the Cookeville area, we should warm up quickly as the sun rises. Winds will be southerly which will help with the warming. Highs are expected to top out around 57°...rain moves in later tonight with an associated cold front. Don't expect it to be a huge rainmaker...maybe around 1/2 inch at the most. Behind the front, we expect much colder temperatures once again with a chance of snow showers by Thursday morning. I'm not excited about ANY accumulation though.
For the rest of the week into the weekend, look for below normal temperatures as we're stuck with cold air from Canada influencing our weather patterns once again. This should be a continued trend through the middle of December. Highs in the 40's and lows in the 20's.
Enjoy this one warm day this afternoon as it won't last.
