Putnam County TN Schools Closed

Putnam County, TN Schools are CLOSED on Thursday, January 22, 2009.

While we did get a good dose of sunshine today, temperatures only made it to 33° today for a high.  This aided the melting process just a bit, but not enough to make many roads clear enough for bus travel.  As usual, it is better to error on the side of caution.

*Latest, Local Forecast*

Several other systems in the northern plateau region are closed also.  See the School Closings list to the right to check out the latest.

At first I felt like they were being overly cautious, canceling classes one more day, but on my drive over toward Crossville I kept seeing more and more ice as I gained elevation. Navigating buses on some of these roads can't be easy to begin with, so I see their point.
