...SEVERE STORMS LIKELY THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING...

A STRONG SPRING STORM CONTINUES TO INTENSIFY OVER THE LOWER PLAINS.
THIS STORM WILL MOVE TOWARD THE TENNESSEE VALLEY TODAY...PRODUCING A
SIGNIFICANT OUTBREAK OF SEVERE WEATHER IN MIDDLE TENNESSEE FOR THIS
AFTERNOON AND EVENING. THIS STORM SYSTEM WILL INTENSIFY AS IT MOVES
NORTHEAST FROM THE LOWER MISSISSIPPI VALLEY TODAY...BRINGING THE
THREAT FOR DAMAGING WINDS...LARGE HAIL...AND ISOLATED TORNADOES.

INTERESTS ACROSS MIDDLE TENNESSEE ARE ENCOURAGED TO MONITOR LATER
FORECASTS AND STATEMENTS AS THIS STORM DRAWS CLOSER.

IN ADDITION...BREEZY CONDITIONS WILL EXIST DURING THE AFTERNOON AND
EVENING HOURS OUTSIDE OF THE THUNDERSTORM AREAS DUE TO A STRONG
SURFACE PRESSURE GRADIENT. SUSTAINED WINDS OF 15 TO 25 MPH WILL
PREVAIL...WITH GUSTS TO 35 MPH.

PEAK TORNADO MONTHS IN MIDDLE TENNESSEE ARE APRIL AND MAY.
