Don't Let Your Guard Down

We expect snow to develop across much of Tennessee on Thursday. It will begin in the western sections of Middle Tennessee first. By daybreak, Nashville should be seeing snow. By mid-morning, areas around Cookeville will see snow begin as well. A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for 1-3" of snow. Just because it doesn't have the name Winter Storm attached to it, this system is powerful. One of the big concerns is the bitter cold and strong winds that will accompany frontal passage. Blowing and drifting snow will create hazardous driving conditions. Be sure to have a winter weather kit in your car. This includes a blanket and other gear you probably have around your home. Davis Nolan, at NashvilleWX, has an excellent post about this and some important information.

TDOT has been hard at work in the Cookeville area getting the 'brine' (as it is called) down on the roads.
