Storm Survey Damage From Thursday

PUBLIC INFORMATION STATEMENT
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE NASHVILLE TN
1130 AM CST FRI MAR 26 2010

...NWS CONFIRMS DAMAGE IN EASTERN WILSON COUNTY FROM THURSDAY...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE CONDUCTED A STORM SURVEY ON THE DAMAGE
CAUSED BY THUNDERSTORMS FROM THURSDAY NIGHT. ON SOUTH COMMERCE
ROAD...8 MILES EAST SOUTHEAST OF LEBANON...FOR A LENGTH OF ONE MILE
AND A WIDTH OF 100 YARDS...DAMAGE WAS EVIDENT. A BARN WAS
COMPLETELY DESTROYED AND ANOTHER WITH SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE. THERE WERE
TWO DOZEN MOSTLY SOFT WOOD TREES SNAPPED OR UPROOTED. ELSEWHERE
THERE WAS MINOR PROPERTY DAMAGE.

THE CAUSE OF THE DAMAGE WAS FROM AN 80 MPH MICROBURST...A VERY
LOCALIZED COLUMN OF SINKING AIR PRODUCING DAMAGING STRAIGHT LINE
WINDS AT THE SURFACE.
