Nice Friday (Thursday Evening Franklin Tornado)

A beautiful morning to start across the Upper Cumberland. Sunny skies and a bit cool in the mid 50's this morning. We'll see a high of 72°, which is right around normal for this time of year. We'll have a slight chance of showers today, although most of the action will be to our south near the Alabama border.

We had morning hail yesterday across much of the area (see the News 2 photo above from Mike Gentry here in Putnam County from Facebook). A list of reported hail is below. Last night, a tornado affected the Franklin, TN area and the National Weather Service will have their storm survey team out this morning to determine what exactly happened. The picture showing overturned cars above was from Facebook.

Local Storm Damage Reports

The rest of this weekend will be warm with highs in the 80's and lows in the upper 50's. We'll continue to see a slight chance for precipitation in the form of thunderstorms both Saturday and Sunday.

There are many different websites to choose from. Weather.com does offer you detailed forecasts by city and zip code. You can even register for text messages at many of the sites. They will also email you weather alerts too.
