Messy Independence Day and Weekend Coming Up

I hope you have some indoor plans for the July 4th Independence Day holiday weekend.

We have quite a storm system setup ahead and an abundance of gulf moisture will make for a very wet July 4th, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Forecasting models currently put the center of this activity over the Cookeville area. Make alternate plans just in heavy rains develop.

****FLOOD WATCH LATE TONIGHT THROUGH FRIDAY NIGHT****

The 11 a.m. National Weather Service briefing stated that "heavy rainfall could lead to both river and flash flooding late tonight all the way through Friday." The expected area of impact is the eastern portions of middle TN including the Cookeville area.

"Heavy rainfall will be possible with amounts of 2-4 inches possible across the watch area."

A flood watch means there is a potential for flooding based upon current forecasts.

As always, do not drive through roadways that are covered with water. Remember, TURN AROUND and DON'T DROWN!
