Thunderstorms Likely on Halloween

Good morning friends. I'm back from a much needed hiatus.

Lets get right to our developing weather situation across the Cookeville area.

There is a slight chance for showers and thunderstorms this Wednesday morning. We are warm this morning with many of us in the lower 60's and I anticipate we'll top out this afternoon in the middle 70's under a cloudy sky. Rain chances are only 20% this morning. Expect clouds to linger overnight with a low of 60°.

The more interesting forecast is for Thursday. We will be warm and windy with highs around 70° and winds steady from the south at 15 mph with gusts to 25 mph. We expect showers and thunderstorms to become likely during the day with the greatest chance in the evening and overnight hours on Thursday. They could affect your trick or treat plans. The windiest part of the day should be between the lunch hour and 6 pm.

As far as severe weather chances, we only see a 'slight' chance. Obviously, we'll keep tuned into the latest conditions and pass along information as the situation warrants. The graphic above shows the impact times and what possible threats we could see during those times. Hopefully, you'll be all wrapped up by the 8:00 pm hour with any outdoor activity. Remember, these times are subject to change. Be mindful of something I say over and over and over: WHEN THUNDER ROARS, GO INDOORS!
