August Fog=Winter Snow??

Interesting post over at NashvilleWX.com (the Weather Blog for the ABC affiliate in Nashville, TN) about Folklore Forecasting. You can click on the link and read all about how some folks believe the number of fogs we get here in August will determine the number of snows we can expect during the upcoming winter season.

We will chart it (using a chart they've provided) and see if it holds true. My personal opinion is 'no way', but hey, it's worth charting and having fun with it. Some believe the wooly worm holds some answers to the snow mystery also...but that is a story for another day!

Oh, and it was BONE DRY here in my area today. Very few locations in Tennessee received rainfall. Yesterday, we have rainfall rates vary from 0.00 up to 0.98 from the seven reporting stations in my county. Today, however, we'll not have any stations in our county report rain.

Across our entire state, not quite 100 of the 212 stations reporting show from a trace amount up to 3.30 inches (from Murfreesboro...which is S.E. of Nashville in Middle TN). *this information courtesy of cocorahs*
