Special Weather Statement for Cookeville, TN

At early afternoon...showers and isolated thunderstorms have started
to develop along the plateau and in eastern middle Tennessee...and will
increase in number as temperatures continue to heat up during the
afternoon.

In addition to the afternoon heat contributing to the thunderstorm
development...there is an outflow boundary dropping south through
central Kentucky...that will enhance shower and thunderstorm
development...first during the early afternoon...across northeastern
middle Tennessee and the north end of the Cumberland Plateau. As
the boundary drops further south during the afternoon...look for
development to take place with its passage...across other parts
of the mid state.

A few storms this afternoon could generate wind gusts to 40 mph...
frequent lightning strikes...along with brief heavy rainfall.
