Dry Run Continues...

It is now day #8 without any measurable rainfall for us here in Cookeville, TN.   I do notice a 10% chance for rainfall in the forecast for today...not going to get excited about that!

*Latest, Local Forecast*

Since the heatwave broke on August 7th, we've enjoyed a nice run of temperatures.  Highs have been mainly in the lower 80's and lows have been in the 50's to right around 60°.  We do see temperatures reaching into the upper 80's by early next week with an increased chance for rain.

Announcements from the folks at the Nat'l Weather Service office in Nashville.
1.  We need CoCoRaHS observers...click here for more
2.  The NWS gang will be at the Wilson County (TN) Fair!
3.  On August 15, 1954...Temperature at Nashville hits 102 degrees. It's the highest temperature ever observed on this date, and marks day 2 of a 3-day run with highs above 100.
4.  One year ago yesterday blog post by Mark Rose

Looking around the weather blogosphere...
Eddie at West TN Weather talks about rain
Jeff Ray at Nashville WX talks about the same!

Finally, our Tennessee Titans play the Oakland Raiders tonight in preseason football.  Kickoff is 7 pm and we expect a game-time temperature of 79° with a north wind around 6 mph and only a very slight chance for rain.  Temperatures should drop about 7 degrees during the game.  My wife and I will attend and I'll post about the ballgame tomorrow!
