Rain and Warmer!

WARMING UP WITH RAIN
Temperatures rose nearly 20° overnight and rain fell here in the Cookeville, TN area just before 5 a.m.  I've collected .17" in my rain gauge.  We have a 50/50 shot of more rain today.  Nearly 8" has fallen since December 1st, making this month one of the wettest Decembers in recent history.

SEVERE CHANCES & RECORD HIGH?
Expect rainfall chances through Sunday with Saturday being the greatest chance for strong storms. Speaking of Saturday, we're expecting our warmest day yet of December as highs will be near 67°...what happens when we have unusually warm weather in winter?  That's right, an increased risk of storms!  By the way, our record for December 27th is 67° set way back in 1940.

FLOODING POSSIBLE NEAR CHICAGO
According to the WGN Weather Blog in Chicago, the warm-up will contribute to flooding in their area.

WARMER JANUARY?
The Climate Prediction Center is predicting Above Average Temperatures & Precipitation for January for Middle Tennessee.  Interesting!

Interesting weather for sure! Maybe some of it followed me up from FL. Hope you had a good Christmas, we spent ours relaxing and spending time together, now today we're back to unpacking boxes! 67 would be amazing, wonder if we could even break that old record perhaps...
