Another Sunny Day!

CHAMBER WEATHER
Yesterday, I promised a look at the upcoming Memorial Day holiday weekend.  We'll have that for you in just a moment.  For today, take yesterday's weather and carbon copy it with a few degrees added to our high temperature. High temperature today will be around 80° under beautiful, sunny skies! Chamber of Commerce weather for sure.

Memorial Day Weekend Forecast
I want to preface this forecast by saying (as I always do) "It is early and things could change." Now that I've said that, here is my thinking for the Memorial Day weekend.  We see a 'slight' chance for showers and thunderstorms each day beginning on Friday. The rain-producing fronts will travel to the north of us (typical for this time of year). Occasionally, over the weekend, we may seeing a passing or pop-up thundershower..however, most of us will stay dry.  Go ahead and plan that picnic, that trip to the lake, or that backyard get-together with family and friends.  Highs will be in the 80's and the humidity will be higher than the last few days.

Weather History for This Date
1990-An F1 tornado strikes near Summertown (Lawrence County) cutting a 2 mile path, fortunately no injuries are reported.
1927-Charles Lindbergh took off from Long Island in dreary, misting weather. Thirty-three hours later, he landed in Paris, completing the first transatlantic flight.

Fun Weather Site of The Day
Anthony Watts' WATTS UP WITH THAT has an excellent series of posts under that 'weather stations' category. He questions how temperature is measured and shows us how outside influences (like grills and A/C units affect measurement).  Anthony is our FWSOTD!

That beautiful picture looks like it could be Center Hill Lake...? We were over there today, had lunch at the Lighthouse and you were right, Michael, the food is very good! A nice little marina & dock, very quiet though I am sure that will change this weekend. Hoping that one day soon I'll find myself on a boat out there!

Hey Paul...Glad you all got to go to Cookeville Dock and Lighthouse restaurant. Yes, you are correct..that is a picture of Center Hill Lake. The water, right now, is higher than it's been in years. I have a story posted over at EXAMINER about Dale Hollow lake. Check it out by going to: http://www.examiner.com/examiner/x-3663-Nashville-Weather-Examiner~y2009m5d20-Camping-Anyone-Flooded-sites-at-Dale-Hollow-Lake
