Big Storms Overnight (More Rain Today)

**DID YOU SEE and HEAR IT??**
Quite a lightning show last evening around 9-9:30 pm. Then a large line of thunderstorms rolled through Cookeville around 11:45 pm, causing brief power outages. Measured 3.20" (a record for this date) of rainfall from that storm which caused flooding on Willow Avenue at Spring Street (State Highway 135 and U.S. 70). I will not be surprised to see 5-8" measurements from other areas of Tennessee. Go to the CoCoRaHS website to view the latest amounts of rain. There, you can click on 'Total Precip' to sort the amounts from highest to lowest. Preliminary Storm Reports for Tennessee available here!

**THURSDAY WEATHER NOTES**
What to look for today? Most of southern sections of Middle Tennessee will be under the gun while the Plateau section will almost certainly see strong storms develop during daytime heating. Not expecting severe storms to develop...at this point. More rain chances on Thursday night and Friday with drier weather for the weekend. Possible record lows coming up for Sunday and Monday mornings where temperatures could be in the mid to upper 50's!

Quite a light show, indeed! I think our rainfall over on the SW side of town was lower, but we had strong winds - small branches and debris scattered everywhere this morning.
