Major Winter Storm for Cookeville Sunday

With temperatures above 50° this morning, it's hard to believe that in about 24 hours snow will begin falling and we expect it to accumulate to between 2" and 4" before ending Sunday night.

A strong low pressure system will move from the central gulf coast toward the Carolinas. It will spread precipitation into the Tennessee valley on Saturday night and Sunday. The precip will begin as rain on Saturday night and change to snow Sunday with snow falling all day Sunday.

The main impact in this event will be the heavy, wet snow combined with a long enough time period that will produce significant accumulations. Areas to our northeast up into Kentucky and even near the Tennessee border north of Knoxville may see accumulations in the 8" range.
