Are You Ready For Some Rainfall?

Imagine Hank Williams, Jr. belting that phrase out loudly after this long, dry hot spell across middle Tennessee. Rainfall is coming to the area. Some areas will see strong thunderstorms overnight with dangerous cloud-to-ground lightning. So much rain has fallen at the TN-KY border that a Flood Advisory was issued for the KY counties.

JACKSON COUNTY LIGHTNING STRIKE:
We've already gotten one report from Jackson County of a 50 year-old lady struck by lightning on Saturday afternoon in the Anderson Village Road area. That is near the high school and middle school. Please take cover when you hear thunder. Your life depends on it.
Remember your lightning safety rules here.
As of July 4, there had been 7 deaths due to lightning this year.

COLD FRONT COMING THROUGH:
A cold front, poised to our north, will move southward in the overnight hours bringing some thunderstorms to the area. Some of these storms will again be quite strong.

LINGERING RAIN AND COOL TEMPS:
We may see highs struggle to get to 80° on Wednesday and Thursday as showers linger over the area. The 5-day QPF forecast says we'll likely see in the 2+" range with some areas seeing 3-3.5" of rainfall. That will go a long way into easing drought conditions temporarily.
