Crazy Weather Ahead

Merry Christmas!

We are staring at some interesting weather over the next 24+ hour period across much of middle
Tennessee.

TORNADIC ACTIVITY IN LOUISIANA:
Before we get to our forecast I wanted to let all of you know about some severe weather taking place across the deep south as severe weather has struck the Rapides Parish in southern Louisiana. The sheriff's department reports 25-30 homes damaged with numerous injuries and first responders are having difficulty reaching victims due to damage.

SEVERE WEATHER EXPECTED DEEP SOUTH:
A PDS (Particularly Dangerous Situation) has been issued across a large portion of eastern Louisiana, southern Mississippi, and southwest Alabama by the Storm Prediction Center in Norman, OK.

BLIZZARD WARNING WEST TN:
A little closer to home, there is a Blizzard Warning in effect for 4 counties in extreme northwest Tennessee into southwest Kentucky, and a Winter Storm Watch for the Memphis area.

HEAVY RAINS EXPECTED HERE:
Here in middle TN, we won't see the type snowfall or severe weather being predicted HOWEVER we do run the risk of some localized flooding potential due to heavy rains expected overnight on Christmas. Temperatures at COLD at just 38.7° at 2:10 pm but I do think temps will rise as the low tracks from the southwest toward the northeast. Rest of today, cloudy, foggy, with temps rising toward dark.

Tonight, showers and thunderstorms with locally heavy rainfall possible. Gusty winds to 25 mph and rain chances are 100%.

Wednesday - A tricky forecast as rain with mix with snow in the afternoon along with falling temperatures. Snow accumulation up to a half inch.

Wednesday Night - A 30% chance of snow early with little additional accumulation and a low of 27. Winds gusting to 20 mph from the northwest.

The rest of the 7-day is located in the link below.
