Upper 90's Through The Weekend

Another hot run of weather is forecast for the Upper Cumberland all the way through the weekend. We will stay just below the threshold to issue a heat advisory, but the counties west of Nashville will continue to be under the advisory. I do think we'll see about a 10° drop in highs starting early next week. The big story continues to be the dry weather. Most of the area cannot catch a break in regards to rain.

Over the last couple of evenings I've spent time with growers and farmers who say it is as bad as they've seen it. We stand at less than 30% of normal rainfall since April 1st. For the year, we are more than 10" behind in rainfall. We need a good, slow soaking of rain that a tropical system from the gulf would bring. Unfortunately, there is nothing on the horizon that says the drought will cease.

Your 7-day forecast is below.
