We Have Snow

A mixture of rain and snow was observed about 5:30 this evening. It is the first of the season here in the Cookeville area.

Temperatures have fallen quickly. We started the day at 60° at 4:15 am and dropped steadily throughout the day. The biggest fall occurred in the 2 pm - 6 pm timeframe. We went from 52.1° down to 39.6°. Expect a low later tonight (toward sunrise) of around 25°. We'll see occasional showers of snow and may see up to 1/2" by morning. I wouldn't be surprised if we had none on the ground though.

Friday's forecast is for a very cold day with gradual clearing but gusty west to northwest winds up to 35 mph. The high will only reach around 39° but will feel much, much colder. Wind chill values will be in the teens to 20's.

The weekend is expected to be mainly sunny with warming temperatures. High of 43° on Saturday and 50° on Sunday.

For Christmas Eve, rain moves in with a high of 54° and rain stays around for Christmas and a high of 52°. I will say that we are carefully watching what could be our FIRST ACCUMULATING SNOW EVENT for next Thursday and Friday. More on that later.
