Continued Hot with Storm Chances

We stay hot across the Cookeville, TN area today with an increased shot at storms mainly in the afternoon. Expect highs once again to be in the lower to middle 90's.

Speaking of hot, there have been 143 records set just in the state of Tennessee for the first 8 days of June. That is an amazing number. Since we're on records, yesterday's high in Cookeville was 96°, which ties a record set from 1933. Today's record is 94° from 1939 and we have a good chance of tying it. The warmest June on record averaged 92.7° for daily highs and occurred in 1942. We are currently averaging 90.4° since June 1.

Hospitals are seeing an increased number of people with heat-related illnesses.
