Gorgeous Sunday

It is a BEAUTIFUL day in Middle Tennessee...Bright sunshine, warm temperatures, and a refreshing northeasterly breeze. If you click on the post title, it'll take you to our current weather conditions on my personal weather station.

I have a garden update and will post pictures soon. The squash and cucumbers have come in and we've enjoyed having them to eat.

Ran across a very well done forum related to weather. It's called The Weather Vane...click here to visit. Thanks to Dustin for inviting me to see it.

Happy Mother's Day 2007

Look how much our Garden has grown!!!
Our grass continues to be healthy.

Even in the front, it looks nice too!

I love working in the flower garden.

Got to visit with my mom today. My wife, daughter, and I gave her a hummingbird feeder (to replace the one that isn't doing so well) today. This is an especially tough Mom's Day for my Mother because she lost her mother on March 17th of this year. Even though Grandma was 92, losing your Mom is just plain hard.

Also, my brother in-law Rob is remembering his Mom on this day. She passed away suddenly this year at a very young age of 63. My thoughts are with him and his family.

On a happier note, my wife, daughter, and I celebrate Mother's Day this year even more as my bride is expecting in October. We hope to know what we're having at the next ultrasound appointment.

You couldn't have asked for a better day weather wise. Temperatures are in the upper 70's and a fresh, north breeze is making the day wonderful! The next several days promise the same type of weather! We'll take it!

Garden Progress!

This is what our garden looked like just a short week ago. We had just planted the different veggies. It's amazing how much it changes!

Here is what it looks like today!

What an awesome Sunday that is in store for us here in the Upper Cumberland. Highs will be in the upper 70's today and in the lower 80's on Monday! WOW

We're headed off to church. Thank you, Lord, for the gorgeous day!

Saturday Night

It's a quiet evening here in the Upper Cumberland. My wife, daughter, and I attended the visitation for Sgt. Alex van Aalten. It was quite emotional for all of us. I really feel for his family.....He gave his life for his country at the young age of 21 in Afghanistan doing what he always wanted to do...defend his country. Sgt. van Aalten is a true American hero. I wished I would have known him better.

In other news:

Our garden is coming along nicely. We planted some cherry tomato plants today. They'll mature in about 65 days and will produce ALOT of 1 oz. tomatoes! The squash will come in on or around June 1st. The cucumbers in the third week of June. Sweet bell peppers along with two varities of large tomatoes will be along in the first few weeks of July.

The radio is playing and Toby Mac is belting out "Made To Love"...great tune....currently #2 on the charts right now....Toby's site is:

You can check out this great radio station at:
WAY-FM in Nashville

My wife and daughter attended a dance group tonight called "Cathedral Oaks"...they had a great time.

Looks like 80 degrees for Sunday and possibly 85 on Monday! ***WOW***

Stormy Thursday

The very early spring that surprised us this year caused many plants to become confused after we went from the lower 80's to the lower 20's earlier this month. As you can see above, the Azalea bush above looks like it has survived. HALLELUJAH!!!! Some of the green leaves are damaged, but the blooms are just coming out a bit later than normal.

This is just one picture of one tomato plant. We've got many more plants located in our garden. We are looking forward to a bountiful growing season this year. I'm FULLY in-charge of our garden as my beautiful bride of almost 3 years is expecting. Our due date is late October, so she'll not be doing ANY heavy lifting, etc...so we'll see whether or not I have a 'green thumb'!!!

Severe Weather just missed our immediate area on Thursday night. We did, however, see storm reports near us include hail and a reported tornado by a trained storm spotter. Also, just to my north, there are trees down and power is out in the Hardy's Chapel area of northern Putnam County......A county east of us (Cumberland) reported a tornado with damage. We'll get more information as the sun comes up Friday morning.

The NWS has cancelled our tornado watch (it was due to end at 10:00 pm), but was cancelled for us 7:06 pm.
The frustrating part is that we only had 0.367 inches of rain. We need quite a bit more than that.

On April 26, 1989...Temperature at Nashville reaches 91, setting a record high for the month.

Today, I was blessed by my company to go and see several GREAT speakers. They included Zig Ziglar, Tom Hopkins, Peyton Manning, Bruce Pearl (University of Tennessee Men's Basketball Coach), Phillip Fulmer (UT's football Coach), Bill Bartman, and Keith Craft. It was awesome.
