Big Cool Down (Frost?)

We expect a big cool down today and tomorrow. By Wednesday, though, temperatures will reach near 70°. Overnight tonight and on Tuesday night, temperatures 'COULD' be chilly enough to create some frost here on the Plateau.

We received .85 inches of rain from the system yesterday and overnight. This brings April's rainfall total to 5.25".

Cold North Winds

Checked my CoCoRaHS Rain Gauge this morning and found we had received .56" of rain from the rains just ahead of a cold front last evening. It is quite chilly with morning temperatures around 30° and winds gusting to 15 mph under a cloudy sky.

We'll struggle to break 40° today even though skies will gradually clear.

Bumpy Weather Ahead

**Headlines:**
  • Leaves are changing rapidly (I'll have some good pictures to post)
  • Our baby girl is a week-old today (and barfed on me earlier today)
  • Severe Weather predicted for Middle Tennessee
Our leaves are changing rapidly here in Middle Tennessee. We've had several cool nights with warm days and this has jump started the leaves.

My baby girl, Mary Katherine, is doing great! She threw up on me earlier today and I had to change clothes before heading back to the office. Life is wonderful.

See our forecast for the next seven days by clicking here (it takes you to the NWS-Nashville)

From the (Nashville) Tennessean newspaper, we expect some rough weather in our area over the next 24 to 36 hours. You can read more of the story by clicking here.

Our good friends over at Nashville WX.com have a post on their blog concerning the storm possibilities as well. Here is a direct link to them.

She's Home!

(This is a picture just moments after she was born)

Our little bundle of joy is home and we are thrilled to be home as well. Sure is funny how I went to the hospital to see our little one being born and it was warm (almost hot) and now it's definitely autumn weather. :)

Our little one is doing well and Mommy is doing great, too. Looks like our warmest day over the next seven won't reach 80 degrees. Hopefully, we'll get some fall colors...though, it does appear the show will be VERY limited.

Big Changes Ahead Mid-Week???

We're watching a possible BIG CHANGE in our weather for the mid-week! The map above is the 'forecast' 500mb map for Thursday. Note the depth of the Canadian air over our area!

Current temperatures this Sunday afternoon are in the middle 80's here on the Cumberland Plateau in Middle Tennessee. Normal highs and lows this time of year are 74 and 47. Record high for October 7th was 93 set back in 1916, the record low was 30 last set in 1980. Last year, we had a high and low of 66/43.

The great news is by Thursday, according to the forecast, we'll struggle to reach 70 each day through the weekend.

The good folks over at NashvilleWX.com talk about change as well.

I'll be with my wife on Tuesday evening as she is giving birth to our daughter, Mary Katherine. Check her website here.

New Purchase & Weather Stuff

Well, I finally did it! :-) Purchased a 'camcorder' or video camera. The reason for the purchase was that my wife and I are expecting a little one in mid to late October. Some of you probably thought it was for weather stuff. Well, I'll probably use it for that also! :-) But don't tell my bride!

We need rain. All of these beautiful, sunny days aren't helping with the huge deficit. Remnants of the tropical depression that came on shore in Florida MAY help us by Tuesday night and onward through Thursday as an accompanying cold front barrels through. This will lower our temps by 10+ degrees.

Speaking of temperatures, there is a great Autumn post over at NashvilleWx.com. You may click this link to go directly to it.

Over at our baby blog, I've posted a poll as to what you think our baby will weigh at birth. Go check it out!

Happy Mother's Day 2007

Look how much our Garden has grown!!!
Our grass continues to be healthy.

Even in the front, it looks nice too!

I love working in the flower garden.

Got to visit with my mom today. My wife, daughter, and I gave her a hummingbird feeder (to replace the one that isn't doing so well) today. This is an especially tough Mom's Day for my Mother because she lost her mother on March 17th of this year. Even though Grandma was 92, losing your Mom is just plain hard.

Also, my brother in-law Rob is remembering his Mom on this day. She passed away suddenly this year at a very young age of 63. My thoughts are with him and his family.

On a happier note, my wife, daughter, and I celebrate Mother's Day this year even more as my bride is expecting in October. We hope to know what we're having at the next ultrasound appointment.

You couldn't have asked for a better day weather wise. Temperatures are in the upper 70's and a fresh, north breeze is making the day wonderful! The next several days promise the same type of weather! We'll take it!
