Storms later today
Thunderstorms are likely this afternoon across most of Middle Tennessee. Locally, these storms could washout my daughter's first Track Meet at CHS scheduled for 3:30 this afternoon. We get a break from the rain on Wednesday, but storms return for Thursday and Thursday night. Those storms could become severe on Thursday.

Temperatures have risen 5 degrees in the last hour and 10 in the last two hours. We've seen the sun peak in and out. The barometer continues to fall and dewpoints are on the rise. This is all contributing to instability in the atmosphere. A line of storms is developing in southern Middle TN. Excellent post at Alabama WX about the instability.

SATURDAY MORNING UPDATE
The good news is very little rain (.45) has fallen since yesterday's measurement. The bad news is we still have round 2 left to go. We do see the potential for another 1-2" of rain through tonight. We are, currently at 9 a.m., in a 'dry slot'. Storms are forming back to our west and the expectation is for these storms to move through the Middle Tennessee area this afternoon. As far as severe weather goes, I do not expect these storms to reach severe limits here in the Cookeville area.

Rainy Saturday
RAIN AND MORE RAIN!
A rain-filled Saturday is on tap for most of us in Middle Tennessee. Just checked my CoCoRaHS rain gauge and had .90 in it since yesterday. This makes 1.82" in the last two days. Through this morning's measurement, I've recorded 2.80" for March. Typically, we see 5.63" during March....
*Latest, Local Forecast*
UNDER THE WEATHER
I missed posting yesterday due to a very powerful stomach and intestinal virus. Looks like I'm on the road to recovery though.
WARM-UP AHEAD
The rest of weekend shows a foggy Sunday, followed by a very nice warming trend. Temperatures may reach 70° by midweek!
SPRING IS SPRINGING
Have you noticed the Bradford Pear trees? They are really looking nice. Some of the Maple trees are beginning to show some color, too. Early spring is a wonderful time. Many of the daffodils are bright yellow as well.
WEATHER HISTORY
Since I missed Friday, I'll post two days worth of weather history.

Winter Weather Today
***5:25 PM Update***
Received a report from a friend in Monterey, he tells me 'Ice is freezing on trees in Monterey.' Another friend, who lives just across the TN border in Kentucky, reports snow falling.
Could see some accumulating snow in the northern counties of Tennessee after dark.
Snow is expected from Texas to Virginia
The heaviest will be in NW TN and SE KY
TODAY'S OUTLOOK
We expect a mixture of precipitation today across the Cookeville and Upper Cumberland area. It should start after lunch today for us and isn't expected to make road conditions slippery. We could see some accumulations in the grassy areas. The best chances for accumulations are on the higher elevations of the Cumberland Plateau.
